Remedy for Advanced Breast Cancer Made from Sea Sponge

Wednesday, June 9th, 2010

p63 Sea SpongeAnother chemotherapy drug which helps treat breast cancer in its advanced stages was made recently from sea sponge. According to reports, this drug helped extend the lives of women who are suffering from metastatic breast cancer up to two and a half months. The drug, known as erubulin, was presented during the recent meeting of the American Society of Clinical Oncology which was held in Chicago.

The study’s author, Dr. Christopher Twelves, said that there is a big need for these therapies as they significantly improve the survival rate of breast cancer patients. This particular drug (Erubulin) happens to target the mechanisms which make cells divide. Previous agents used to treat breast cancer did not do this.

More than 750 women suffering from advanced breast cancer were randomly chosen for this clinical study. This included patients who have been previously treated using other therapies to treat their cancer. According to the study’s findings, there was a 23% improvement in survival when erubulin was taken. Compared to the average survival of 10.7 months using conventional treatments, patients who were given erubulin lived for another 13 months.

While erubulin can lengthen the survival period of women with metastatic breast cancer, there is no proof yet that it can actually cure the cancer. An expert in the meeting also cautioned that not all women who underwent the said clinical trial had access to other drugs released in the past years. Because the controlled group was also chosen randomly, the findings might not be that accurate.

Using Olive Leaf Extract To Treat Ear Infections!

Tuesday, December 22nd, 2009

olive_leaf_2When I was a kid, I was the kid that had ear infections all of the time.  I do not think that there is anything worse than an ear infection, especially if you are a parent that is dealing with a screaming kid.  Did you know that there are actually herbal remedies that you can use that can help treat ear infections.

One thing that I have learned is that olive lead extracts are actually a fantastic way to treat an ear infection.  Olive oil actually stimulates phagocytes, which are blood cells that protect the body by obliterating atrocious bacteria, which as you know – an ear infection is all about bacteria.

Another thing that can really help with ear infections is goldenseal, this will help boost your immune system and will provide some rapid recovery for your ear infection.

hydrangeaHydrangea is a gorgeous, bright flower — but that is not all. It can do more than make your garden lovely. Recently conducted research suggests that this flower can also act as a very potent drug, one which may have the ability to treat several common illnesses and diseases.

According to these findings, there is a drug located in the shrub’s root which can be extracted and used to treat problems like multiple sclerosis, psoriasis, arthritis, and even some types of diabetes.

Further, the drug may be beneficial in battling illnesses and diseases that are caused by an attack on the body’s immune system.

If this turns out to be true, and if it can be made into a viable treatment option, then many doors will open up to the possibility of treating debilitating diseases in a natural and ultimately safer way.
